My whole class and I went to camp last week on Wednesday and I enjoyed it very much. The reason we went there, so we could have fun and have an opportunity to learn how to kayak., One of my favourite things to do at camp was sleeping. Kiwiana art

 I.A.L.T upload my work from this week toy my blog and write about it

Today for blogging I am uploading my Kiwiana art. Kiwiana art is when you pick something native to New Zealand like Pies, Pack n Save and other things. For my kiwiana art I choose a tomato , pie, chocolate fish and a soup bar. How we made our Kiwiana was to take a paper and fold it into 4 squares and then draw your 4 things native to New Zealand on each of the 4 squares and the go over your drawing with a sharpie. Next you have to colour in your pictures and the background and this is how it's suppose to look like... 

I really enjoyed colouring my pictures and background in because colouring for me is really fun. 

I learned to draw pies because it took me ages to draw the pie. 

I could improve on by taking my time and not rushing.

Maitai Bay Brochure

Today for blogging we are uploading what we did last week. We made a Maitai Bay Broshure. We also had buddies and mine was Brooke. We worked really well and I enjoyed doing the Maitai Bay Brochure. We had to answer some questions about Maitai Bay and the Rahui. We added pictures of fish and how Maitai Bay looks like on our Brochure. We also wrote the types of fish you can see at Maitai Bay and so on. Here is a picture of our Brochure...

I learned about the types of fish there where on Maitai Bay

I found it challenging doing the Rahui because I did not know what a Rahui was at first

Kiwi Can

 I.A.L.T upload a post showing what we learnt in Kiwi Can today

Today we had Kiwi Can and I had a great time. We are learning about Respect and treating people the way I wanted to be treated. We played two games, the first one was called Snap, Crackle and Pop. To play Snap, Crackle and Pop, you need to get in a group with three people. One of you are called Snap, the other Crackle and the last one is called Pop. After you get into a group and name yourself, you and all the other teams who is also in a group with three people and named yourself, you all get into a circle standing next to your group and then, one person yells out Snap, which means that the person who is called Snap has in the group has to run around the entire circle. Pop and Crackle has to hold each others leg, but only one leg and when Snap has ran around the circle they have to go back to where they started running and go under Pop and Crackles legs and in the middle you can put a shoe and the first person who gets the shoe wins a point for their team. Our Catchphrase is 'We respect our school, we will do it, because we are cool'

I was being respectful by not talking over anyone and I think no one actually talked over anyone at all.

I enjoyed play Snap, Crackle and Pop because it was fun running around the circle.

I could improve on trying a little bit more and pushing myself.

Swimming lesson

Today for blogging we had to upload what we did yesterday. Yesterday we went on a trip to learn snorkelling. We went to Te Punawai-ora pools to learn snorkelling. Next week on Tuesday we are going to the real ocean to practice snorkelling there. At Te Punawai-ora pool we put on wet suits, flippers and mask. We had to get in buddies. We all had to sit at the end of the pool with our buddies and put our mask and flippers on. We all got a board then we all got in. We first tested our mask to make sure no water comes in and then, one by one, each person with their buddy got called up with their board and had to hold on the end of the board and swam around the pool with our heads under the water. We went twice around the whole pool. Then we also had to swim under a hoop and after that you and your buddy had to swim to the other side of the pool and then we had to get out and get changed again. Here is a photo of...

I learned that wet suits are actually really tricky to put on and take off,.

I also really enjoyed going through the hoop because I like going through things and also going under water.

My goal is to not be afraid to go to the deep side because I am not that confident swimming in deep water.

Waitangi treaty grounds

 I.A.L.T upload what we did for waitangi and write about it

Today for blogging we had to upload what we did on Tuesday. On Tuesday we went to waitangi, where we learned to do cool stuff with scratch. Monica and Katelyn were two of the people who taught us. We also got a tour around waitangi and we saw canoes, the were made out of an old tree stump. We got to stand and sit on the tree stamp. We also went to the museum and saw pictures about people signing the treaty of waitangi. We had to get into buddies and at school we made a symbol of something that represents our family and I did mountains. Anyway, me and Peyton were buddies and on scratch we had to draw our symbol and get a character and we had to make the character move to the other side and explain what the symbol is and why it's important. We went onto scratch and got a background and a character. Here is a picture of waitangi...

I really enjoyed learning about scratch because now I know more about scratch for example, that you can draw stuff on the screen and insert it into your animation. 

I found interesting that you get to see the tree stump with the canoes.

Math task

 I.A.L.T uplaod our math task of today and write about it.

Today for maths we did something called Sudoku. You get a worksheet and on the worksheet you get a box and there are other tiny boxes in the big box and there are numbers in the tiny boxes, but sometimes there aren't any numbers in some of the tiny boxes. Then you have to figure out what numbers should go into the boxes. On the worksheet there is usually like 4x4 or 5x5 and that means that the only numbers on the worksheet will be up to 4 or 5.  It's like a puzzle you need to solve, all the boxes should have the same numbers but each row and column and box have to contain all the numbers.

I enjoyed writing the answers because it was tricky, but sometimes it was easy too.

I found it interesting how it was actually fun because I find most math task boring.

Kiwi can week 8

 I.A.L.T upload my kiwi can lesson and write about it

Today for Kiwi can we learnt about the word accountability. This word we are talking about means when you do something bad, you tell the truth and be honest. One game we played that taught us how to be accountable was 'Impossible Connections'. This is how we play the game, first you need to dance to music and when the music stops, one person says, get into a group of two, three or any number and sometimes they say, get into a group of maybe 6 and feet. That means you and your group should put your feet together and sit down, the last group that sits down and did all of that is unfortunately out. I won two times, it was fun. I really enjoyed learning the catchphrase, which is 'we are honest, we are true, we take ownership for what we do'

What I found challenging was getting into groups from the game we played because there was lot's of people and it was hard to organise everyone in such a short time.

My Drawing room

Last week we started our writing task about a special place to us, like our bedroom, kitchen or anything really. I wrote about my imaginary drawing room. I really want a drawing room, so I imagine I have one. We get this plan that's called a hamburger. First we write what our special place is, then what it looks like, next we write describe it, like what does feel like, taste like and hear like, then we write about why it's special to us. We haven't fished , though. Here is a picture of my writing...

I really enjoyed writing what my drawing room looks like because there was a lot of stuff I wrote lots of things that were in my drawing room.

I found interesting that I know even more about my drawing room by describing it. 

I could improve on by writing and explaining more.

Geometric art

Today for blogging we are uploading our Geometric art. I made a elephant and a wolf. I did the elephant first and then the wolf. I think this is one of my favourite pieces of art this year. Geometric art is when you draw a animal or pretty much anything, but using straight edged shapes, instead of curved edged shapes. The wolf is my favourite. Here is a photo of mine...

I enjoyed making the wolf because it was bigger and cooler for me. 

I found interesting that it is actually really easy, because I thought it would be tricky to make, but it wasn't.

Commas

I.A.L.T upload my learning task to my blog and write about them

Today we are uploading out comma poster/quiz/animation. We also chose if we wanted to have buddies, I was buddies with Sofia. Sofia and I made a quiz. We had to explain how to use commas in our quiz and where to put them and what commas are. After that, we wrote heaps of sentences without commas and there are some pictures of commas below the sentences, so the person reading the questions has to take the commas and add it to the right place in the sentence. I really enjoyed writing the sentences and being buddies with Sofia. 

I found interesting that commas are actually pretty fascinating if you research about them because they are used for many things in a sentence.

Today for blogging we had to upload a task we completed today or yesterday or our letter we wrote about a special person last week. I chose my letter about my special person. I wrote about, Jessica, who is my little sister. We had to write four paragraphs. The first paragraph is who my person is and where they live and who they live with. The second paragraph is about what they look like. Third paragraph is about their personality and their actions. Lucky last is fourth and the fourth paragraph is about their hobbies.

I really enjoyed choosing a picture of Jessica because I had so many and some of them were really cute.

Kiwi Can

I.A.L.T upload my learning task to my blog and write about.

Today we had Kiwi Can. I really enjoy Kiwi Can, anyways. We played red light and green light and this new clapping game. To play that game, everyone has to sit in a circle and clap their hands to make a beat. After that, one person has to start counting to one and the second person has to say the second number, but, you can pass it to anyone who sits next to you. To make sure everyone knows who you are passing it too, you take your hand and put it by the right or left side of your neck and yeah. The last person who counts to seven, the next person has to count again and it goes on and on, but if someone counted 8 or more, they are out. Here is a picture of today's Kiwi Can lesson...

I enjoyed playing red light and green light because it was tricky and fun.

I found interesting that there are so many different games out there in the world.

Today for blogging we had to upload any task from last week, so today I am uploading my writing task.

I found interesting that it's actually easy to make a boring sentence into a interesting sentence.

I really enjoyed thinking about the sentence that I had to write because there was so many words I could've used.

Film

Hello, today we can upload any learning this week and Peyton, Robert, Jess, Caleb, Rusty, James and I are making a film. The film was James idea and it's called Covid in the future, so we call it Covid-22 because the future is basically in the year 2022. Everyone in the film group except for James are the actors. We can't wait to finish the video. It's really exciting. Here is the slide where we did the planing on, oh and by the way, we haven't quite finish the slide...

We have already started filming and we are almost done. I really enjoyed the banana part where we were pretending to be on a plane and Jess was the flight attendant and I asked her for a banana.

Writing task Banana

Hi, today for writing we had to describe something and I choose a Banana. I really love bananas, they are one of my favourite fruit. We got this huge sheet of paper that had 5 boxes and on those 5 boxes it said, taste, smell, look, sound and feel. So we had to explain how a banana smell, taste, look, sound and feel like. You might get confused by sound because I said bam because a when a banana falls, it makes a sound and so I wrote bam. Here is a picture of my work...

I really enjoyed writing the taste bit because it made me feel like I really ate a banana.

Matariki Star Art

I.A.L.T Upload our Matariki art and write about it

For Matariki we made a star that we call Matariki star. Matariki is actually the Maori New Year. Anyways, this is how we made out Matariki Star art. First we got a big and small star. The stars had only 4 points. Next we got another piece of paper and had to trace another big and small star. After that we had to draw maori patterns on the stars and after colour it in. Next we cut out our stars and glued them together. The big stars you glue first and then your little stars and then you sick them together. Then we glued the star to a piece of black paper and with a ruler we drew sharp ends by the pints of the star and after we cut it out. This is what it looks like...

I really enjoyed colouring the star in because that's when it looked nice and colourful

Kiwi can term 3

W.A.L.T Write a reflection of what I did at Kiwi Can today for term 3

At Kiwi Can, we played Master Tag and I really enjoyed it. In Master Tag, everyone is in, so everyone has to try and get everyone else. If you tag someone, they have to sit down and if you got tagged, then the person you tagged can stand back up again. When you and someone tagged each other the same time, you do Rock, paper, scissors to find out who has to sit down and who is free to run again. Today we focused on integrity, integrity means doing the right thing. Our catchphrase is 'Right is right, even if everyone is not doing it,  wrong is wrong, even if everyone doing it'

Monkey art

Hi, yesterday we got cardboard and coloured it in with pastels. I used orange, blue, purple, light and dark pink, green, gold and yellow pastels. after we were done colouring our cardboard, we had to paint it black and after it was dry, we got used a spoon and drew a animal of our choice. I choose a monkey and I call my monkey Banana. 

So, that's my monkey that I did. I really enjoyed scratching the bananas and the monkey out because it was fun and colourful. I found interesting that my monkey turned out how I wanted it too and wasn't a big mess. 

I can't wait to do more art because I really enjoy it. 

Ice sheets and Ice shelves

Hi, today for blogging we had to upload any work we have been doing this week. Today I made a programme of Antarctica that shows the Ice sheet and shelves. I also added a penguin for fun. 

It was hard getting a good colour for the ice because there wasn't much colours that really fit with the Ice. The easy part for me was the ocean and the penguin.

That is my programme. I really enjoyed making the penguin because I tried making it look silly. 

To improve maybe I can add more detail to it. I found the interesting that I made the penguin look mad. My friend Brooke said that the penguin looks bored.  Have you done something similar like this before?

2nd Kiwi Can

I.A.L.T Write a reflection about the second lesson of Kiwi Can for term two.

Hi, today we had Kiwi Can and it was so much fun. We played fun games like Octopus. Octopus is a game where two or more players are taggers. The rest of the people should be standing by a wall or a fence and they have to try to run to the other side and try not to be tagged. The taggers have to call out something your wearing or a colour and other things. So, that one of the games we played, the other game that we played was Red light Green light. Red light Green light is a game where one person says Green, Red or Orange light, so when the person says Green light, everyone has to run and try to touch the person or something like a chair or a wall. When the person says Orange light, we have to slow down and when he/she says red light, than we have to freeze, but if we don't freeze in time or not at all we have to start all over again. There was a catchphrase and it goes like this 'When times get tough, I don't spare, I bounce back up and persevere'

I really enjoyed playing Octopus because the taggers had to try and catch us on one foot. 

I found challenging to get past some of the taggers when they weren't on one foot because there was three taggers and we were in a small hall. 

Everyone joined in on both of the games and we all were kind to each other.

Space Art

I.A.L.T upload our art and write about it. 

Hi, today for blogging we had to take a picture of our space art that we did. First we had to draw a main planet, rocket ship or anything to do with space and then some other pictures for he background. After that we coloured our drawings with pastels and after that we got called by the teacher to paint our backgrounds. For our backgrounds we used sponges to put paint on.  There was light and dark blue, purple, white and black. I only used light and dark blue, white and purple. I am sure everyone used white to make stars. We took a paint brush and dip it into a little bit of white paint and then we took pencil and hit the pencil on the paint brush and tiny white dots appear on our art work, that's how we made the stars. After that we took our painted backgrounds to the backroom so it can dry and then we started to cut our drawings out. The next step was to take our background and paste our pictures that we draw on the background. This is my art work I did. 

I really enjoyed painting my background and colouring my pictures in.

I learned that you can draw a picture and call it your name, and that's what I did, I called one of the planets I drew, Natasha.

I found colouring in the lines with pastel was challenging.

IALT: Choose one of my reading task and upload it to my blog

Hi, today for blogging we had to choose a reading task we did this week. I choose my letter I wrote yesterday. We had to pretend to write a letter to the Author who wrote 'Becoming a Martian'. To write the letter, we had to respond to several questions that were asked to the audience. Here is my letter.

Reflection:

I enjoyed writing the letter because some of the questions were really fun to answer.

I found the questions really interesting because some questions were really different. 

I think next time I could improve on try to write a little bit more because I don't write lots.

KiwiCan

Hello, to day we had KiwiCan. It was so much fun. We have KiwiCan on Wednesday and last week our teacher said that KiwiCand is back up. 

I was so excited because in KiwiCan we get to play and learn new games. Today we played with a ball and we had to balance it on our wrist. The last day of reading Cancel the invasion

Hello, today we did comprehension questions about Cancel the invasion, but since it's the last day of reading the story, we made a summary about the story we read and that's what I am publishing on my blog today. So here it is...

 

I loved reading Cancel the invasion because it was about aliens. I enjoyed the part when he said that human langues is weird because a little girl accidentally hit him in the head with a balls, like a ball is like a dance and something you throw with with. What story did you read for reading? 

Cancel the invasion world search

I.A.L.T Create a blog post about my reading task and write about it.

For reading today, we did a word search. I love world searches, but I didn't do so good at finding all of the words. I also didn't find all of the words, but at least I found a few. The words were actually from the book we read, Cancel the invasion. We also had to choice if we wanted to do the world search on paper or on our chrome book, I choose my chrome book. As you can see, I only found 7 words, it was tricky and little hard, but I still had fun. I think why I didn't really get all the words is because there were too many letters to look at, so I could barley even find words in amongst them.

Cancel the invasion storyboard

I.A.L.T we are learning to write about my reading task

Today for reading we read Cancel the invasion. It was an really interesting story. So for our writing task we had to make a storyboard about the main ideas in Cancel the invasion. I think the main message in Cancel the invasion is to not judge people from their looks. I think this because in the story they children are scared of the alien because he looks different, but he is actually really nice and kind.

The beast

Hi, for writing I written a story that I call The beast. Here it is and I hope you enjoy reading it. :)

                                                  The beast

He tied his boat off and started to climb the cliffs. He knew that no one had lived to tell what was behind the cloud,  but still he climbed. “I am almost there,” he said. BTW his name is Zack. Zack finally climbed to the top and he walked slowly into the cloud. As Zack walked slowly into the cloud, he saw a skull rolling down to his feet. “What is that?” he said all shaken up. Then Zack saw a big tock and on top of the rock was a beast. The beast had yellow eyes and brown furry fur, but he didn’t look friendly at all. “No wonder no one lived to tell the story, they all died because of that thing!” Zack yelled. The beast saw him and ran toward Zack and…

A few seconds later. “No no, please don’t eat me,” Zack said. Zack was in his bedroom having a bad dream. “Please I beg you if you can understand English” Zack was so scared, but then he woke up and realized it was a bad dream. “I am alive. YES!!!”

What story did you write for writing? 

Writing about 'My name is Rez'

Hi, yesterday we had to write about the story called 'My name is Rez' and we had to choose a part from the story and write about it, so I choose the bully part when she got bullied.  

I read a story called ‘My name is Rez’. It’s about a girl who is a Refugee who now lives in New Zealand. She used to live in Kurdistan. Then  her family decided to move to Iran. She was in a refugee camp and had to share a tent with her family and six other families who she doesn’t know. Then they moved to New Zealand where they had a whole house to themselves, but Rez still had to go to school. She didn’t know how to speak English, The only thing she could say in English is My name is  Rez. Kids bullied her about that and laughed. She didn’t know what they were saying, though. I didn’t like how they made fun of her because she didn’t  know how to speak English and always said that one sentence. I really feel sorry for her because it’s not fun being bullied at all.  It would be nicer if someone stood up to her and helped her to speak English, but the second year of school, she knew how to speak English and she could also understand other kids. She even joined the Kapa Haka group to learn Maori Culture. One of her friends also told her to try Netball and she did. So she also  joined the Netball team. When she got older she said she became a Lawyer and she also said that when you don’t understand someone, the best thing to do first is to play together.  

What did you think about my writing? I really didn't like how they where bulling her. 

Vocabulary

Hi, for reading today we did a vocabulary poster of the story we read. The story is called 'My name is Rez' It is a very interesting story and I loved reading it, but not all the sad things that happened in the story.

So, we had 3 words where we had to find out the Meaning and put it into a sentence, then we had to find 3 words of our own in the story and write the meaning and put it into a  sentence too. It was a little bit tricky, but I had fun thinking of the sentences. Sorry if you can see it, but if you zoom in you can.

Bok Choy summary

W.A.L.T I am learning to write about the text I am reading 

Here I made a storyboard of Bok Choy yesterday, we had to add the tittle, where the story is set and the characters.  Then we had the beginning, middle and end. 

For reading we also made a summary about Bok Choy, here is mine

Bok Choy is a story.  The story is in New Zealand near a Chinese village, the characters are Ms, Bishop, Ah Sum, Jacob and Mother.  Jacob and his mother were stacking firewood until Ah Sum came to sell some Vegetables. Ms Bishop walked out of her hut, she didn’t like Ah Sum at all. Mother bought some vegetables and gave Ah Sum his coins. Jacob went down to  the river to go fishing, but he slipped and fell into the river. The current was strong and Jacob tried to grab a hold of a rock, but instead he hit a rock and passed out. Jacob woke up in a hut. Someone lived there and Jacob saw Ah Sum. Ah Sum gave him a cup with something warm inside. Jacob saw some pictures on the wall. Jacob has never been to the Chinese village before because of how the people talked. Soon, Jacob’s mum came to pick Jacob up. Jacob told his mother what

 Ah Sum did and that he took good care of him.  Mother said thank you and they walked back home. At home they were stopped by Ms. Bishop. She always called Ah Sum’s Bok Choy Chinese Cabbages, but Mother and Jacob said that it was called Bok Choy.

I had a great time writing this summary. Today is the last day we are reading Bok Choy and I can't wait to see what we are reading next. Have you done a summary before? What was your summary about?

Ah Sum's letter

Walt: upload our reading tasks and write about them. 

Today for reading we had to pretend we were Ah Sum and we had to write a letter to Ah Sum's family. His children and wife. I had so much fun writing this letter, but to find the background was a little tricky, but at least I found one. In the letter I had to think about what Ah Sum might have wrote to his family and how he was feeling.

Today for reading we had to make Ah Sum's hut. Ah Sum is a character in a story we 

had to read and we had to make his hut and we had to include people too. 

I made this hut on google drawing using shapes. It was really fun to make 

and I really enjoyed making the fire, oh and that blue and red stuff are suppose to be clothes.

Hi, for reading we had to make a comic strip about the ski trip and here is mine. I had so much fun because me and my friend Brooke did it together . Did you make a comic strip before, what was it about?

Hi, today for reading we had to do a book cover of a book we love to read and I choose this book called Liewe Heksie. This story was written in Afrikaans and luckily I can read  Afrikaans. This story is about a witch called Liewe Heksie and she is forgets a lot of things and it's a really funny story, I mean stories because there a short stories in this book too. I love reading this book so much. It is really interesting.

Dolphins

Hi, to keep me busy I decided to choose a topic like animals or  food or anything and write about it and then post it on my blog. So today I made a blog post about dolphins for fun and tomorrow I'm going to write a story about dolphins and maybe even do a digital art of a dolphin. Here is my poster.

Anzac Ted

I had fun making Anzac Ted and here is a story I wrote about Anzac Ted.

Anzac was on a mission to find the hidden treasure of Teddy Town. His sidekick Mr. Mouse held the map that lead to the treasure. "Finally, we crossed the Dino Cannon. Now off to Windy desert" Mr. Mouse said looking down at the Dinosaur that tried to catch them. "It's a long way to the Windy dessert" Anzac Ted said. So, a day or two they finally got to the Windy dessert. Luckily it isn't windy right now"  Anzac Ted said looking around. "The treasure is in a cave somewhere around here" Mr. Mouse said walking up to a rock to look for the cave. "hey, I think I see something" Mr. Mouse squeaked. Anzac Ted looked out and saw something coming to them. "Hey, that looks like rhinos"  Mr. Mouse said. "But what is rhinos doing out here?" Anzac Ted asked. "we can figure it out later, for now RUN!!!" Mr, Mouse started running but he didn't get far because he was a mouse. " I can hold a really big map, but I can't even run fast" Mr. Mouse complained. Anzac Ted picked up Mr. Mouse and ran. "hey up there" Mr. Mouse said pointing at a large sand dune, but the rhinos where really close. Anzac Ted ran as fast as he could and he and Mr. Mouse made it. "hooray" Mr. Mouse yelled. "hey, we can get a good view from here" Anzac Ted said as he looked for the cave. "I see it" he yelled. "Good, let's go now" said Mr. Mouse  and they walked to the cave. As they went inside, they saw something glowing. "Hey, that must be the treasure" Anzac Ted and Mr. Mouse ran and what they saw was amazing. "we did it!" Mr. Mouse and Anzac Ted said at the same time. It was a long journey back, but they made it back to  Teddy Town. Anzac Ted and Mr. Mouse celebrate with some delouse ice cream Sundays.
